RPD Identies Body of Missing UofR Professor

UPDATE: Rochester Police now confirm they've recovered the body of a missing University of Rochester associate professor.

The body was pulled from the river yesterday near the Inner Loop bridge.

The Medical Examiner has positively identified it as that of 44-year-old Heikki Rantakari.

Rochester Police say video evidence shows a missing U of R professor fell into the Genesee River.

They say 44-year-old Heikki Rantakari was shown falling from the pedestrian bridge at the end of Bragdon Place on Saturday.

So far, scuba teams have come up empty.

Rantakari was in town to teach a class, and did check into an AirBnB the day before.

Rantakari is an associate professor at the university's Simon Business School.

Police don't suspect foul play.
