Community activists and elected officials are holding a town hall tonight, to discuss a possible public takeover of Rochester Gas & Electric.
They're calling for the county to provide $1 million to fund a study.
It comes after the state Public Service Commission okayed a 16 percent hike in electric rates and a nearly 11 percent increase for natural gas over the next three years.
Advocates for the takeover say parent company Iberdrola takes $95 million in profits per year from the region, without providing reinvestment and adequate customer service.
The meeting is set for 6 o'clock at Fairport High School.
