Rochester City School Board Approves Reorganization Plan

The Rochester city school board has approved the district's reconfiguration plan.

The vote was 5 to 2.

After this school year, five buildings will be shut down and eleven schools will close.

Schools are being realigned so that grades Pre-K through 6 will be in elementary schools, grades 7 and 8 will be in middle schools, and grades 9 through 12 will be in high schools.

The plan was guided by declines in enrollment, building conditions and long-term financial planning.
