Monroe County Invests COVID Relief Funding into Nursing School Programs

Monroe County is investing $11 million in federal COVID relief funding into two local nursing school programs hoping to address the shortage of health care workers.

County Executive Adam Bello says the money is going to Finger Lakes Performing Provider Systems nursing workforce development programs. The money will split evenly between two different programs, one working to break down barriers for people to get into nursing and the other to help people advance their careers in nursing. The goal is to get more people working as LPNs and Registered Nurses, especially at Nursing homes and home health care programs. FLPPS will work with Monroe Community College's nursing program
