Cannabis Farmers Struggle Amidst State's Slow Cannabis License Rollout

Dozens of elected officials say the state's troubled rollout of licensed cannabis shops is hurting cannabis farmers.

They say more than 200 cannabis farmers are trying to sell their crops but only 23 dispensaries are open statewide, resulting in more than 250-thousand pounds of unsold products.

Nearly 70 elected officials have sent a letter to Governor Hochul, calling on her to sign the "Cannabis Crop Rescue Act."

The bill would let the state's growers sell their product to the state's Tribal Nations.
