Army Veteran Takes Plea Deal in Scuffle With Lee Zeldin

The Army veteran charged last year in a scuffle in Perinton with politician Lee Zeldin has taken a plea deal.

David Jakubonis has pleaded guilty to assaulting a federal officer, which carries a 1-year maximum prison sentence.

Jakubonis approached Zeldin on stage at a campaign rally, holding a pointed key-chain sometimes used as a weapon.

He's been attending PTSD and alcohol recovery programs.

He also was granted permission last month to live on his own and move out of the housing operated by the Veteran's Outreach Center.

He'll be sentenced in December.
