Acting NYSP Superintendent Retiring

Governor Hochul is looking elsewhere for a permanent State Police Superintendent.

Her office informed Acting Superintendent Steven Nigrelli he is no longer a candidate.

He subsequently announced he will be retiring from the state police, effective October 6.

The governor's decision followed an investigation into allegations that Nigrelli was abusive to employees.

He had been acting superintendent since last fall.
