Local Unemployment Up For The 4th Consecutive Month

The local unemployment rate has risen for the 4th consecutive month.

The state Labor Department reports the jobless rate for the Rochester metro is up to 3.5% in August.

That's a 3-tenths of a point increase from July, and a full point higher than the record-low 2.5% in April.

The rate is lower than the statewide rate of 3.9%, as well as the 3.7% rate the previous August.

And the metro has gained over 10,000 jobs year-over-year.
