A new state gun law goes into effect this week.
Under the new law, anyone with a concealed carry permit that was issued prior to September 1st, 2020, must recertify their weapons.
Gun owners must recertify their weapons every three years as part of a crack down on gun violence statewide.
Another law takes effect next week that requires the state police to conduct the background checks previously handled by the federal government. The checks will cost $9 for gun purchases and $2.50 for purchases of ammunition.
