We are learning more about the allegations that led to criminal charges against a teacher at North Rose-Wolcott Middle School.
The school district says in a statement 33-year-old Anthony Gill was a probationary teacher when the district first learned in March that he sexually abused a student.
The statement says law enforcement was immediately contacted, students were interviewed, and Gill was immediately placed on administrative leave.
The district says Gill was in his second year in the district and cleared a background check before he was hired.
He was charged yesterday with second-degree sex abuse and endangering a child. It's not clear why authorities needed five months to bring the charges.
