New Ruth Bader Ginsburg Statue at the State Capitol building in Albany

Governor Hochul was joined by women who are state and local officials in dedicating a statue of the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the State Capitol in Albany yesterday afternoon.

The statue is part of the "million dollar staircase" where dozens of statues honor historic state officials.

The governor says Ginsburg forced her way through doors into law firms and into government in ascending to the highest court in the nation.

Ginsburg joins Susan B Anthony, Clara Barton and a handful of other women who have portraits on the famous Million Dollar Staircase.

Justice Ginsburg was nominated to the Supreme Court in 1993 and is known for fighting for women's rights and freedom of religion.
