The Monroe County Legislature Approves Fair Chance Employment Act

The Monroe County Legislature has approved the so-called Fair Chance Employment Act.

The bill would prohibit the county government from asking about a job applicant's criminal history on the application form.

Legislature President Sabrina LaMar says the bill will help the county fill an estimated 800 vacant jobs, and ensure that the application form doesn't discourage people from applying.

The measure would not apply to the Sheriff's Office, the District Attorney's Office, the airport, or the Children's Detention Center.
