UPDATE: Arrest Made in Genesee St. Homicide

UPDATE: There is an arrest in Wednesday's homicide on Genesee Street in Rochester.

U.S. Marshals and city police spotted 20-year-old suspect Stephan Jefferson riding a bike yesterday and took him into custody.

He was arrested with a loaded handgun and is facing murder and gun charges. He pleaded Not Guilty in City Court this morning and is being held without bail.

Police say he shot and killed 38-year-old Dwayne Hall Jr. after the two men got into a fist fight. Police say Jefferson and Hall used to live near each other, and the fight was the result of a prior dispute.

Police say citizens supplied the information that led to the quick arrest.

Jefferson will be arraigned this morning.

UPDATE: The victim of Wednesday's homicide has been identified as 38-year-old Dwayne Hall Jr.

Hall was shot during a fist fight with another man yesterday afternoon on Genesee Street, near Dr. Samuel McCree Way.

He died later at the hospital, and no one has been arrested.

A police officer who was heading to the shooting scene for crowd control got into a crash at Ames and Wilder streets. Injuries to the officer and two people in one of the other cars were minor.

One man is dead, after a shooting on Rochester's southwest side.

Police say a 38-year-old man was shot on Genesee Street near Doctor Samuel McCree Way shortly before 4 o'clock this afternoon.

He was taken to Strong Hospital but died a short time later.

There are no arrests.

It's Rochester's 2nd homicide within 24 hours.
