Dr. Mendoza Concerned About Wildfire Smoke In Our Area For Certain Groups

Monroe County's Commissioner of Public Health says the temporary return of Canadian wildfire smoke to our area should be of note to people with lung and heart diseases if not outright concern.

Dr. Michael Mendoza says people over 65 and under 18 will be the most sensitive to the smoke and the particulates it carries. Outdoor workers, people playing outdoor sports and pregnant women may also need to be more cautious about being outside.

Mendoza says he's also alerting summer camps and youth sports to keep a close eye on their participants and make sure to work in frequent breaks for young people.
