Woman Admits Stealing $579k From Wegmans

A Webster woman has admitted to stealing over half a million dollars from Wegmans.

Federal prosecutors say 47-year-old Alicia Torres tricked the pharmacist to authorize fraudulent refund requests in the names of real customers, then swiped her own debit card to pay the refunds to herself.

In all, Torres took over $568,000 over the past nine years, and she fraudulently used store gift cards to steal nearly $11,000 in merchandise.

She'll be sentenced for her wire fraud conviction in September.
