New York State Wants to Expand Medicaid for Undocumented Immigrants

The state of New York is asking federal officials for guidance on expanding Medicaid coverage for more illegal immigrants and asylum seekers who become residents of the state.

Spectrum News reports Governor Hochul is seeking a Medicaid waiver to expand the coverage.

Undocumented immigrants are currently eligible for benefits before they turn 19, or if they are pregnant, or after they turn 64.

The state wants to cover the other adults.
