Monroe County Executive Adam Bello is proposing spending $7 million to add manpower at the Sheriff's Office and create a Regional Investigative Operations Center, also called a "ree-ock."
The proposals would add 40 more road patrol deputies and investigators, 20 percent increase in sworn officers.
Bello calls it the biggest increase in decades.
He also says the RIOC will be similar to centers in other metropolitan areas, and will improve communication and coordination between the county and local police agencies.
