Rochester Man Pleads Guilty in N. Clinton Ave. Beating Death

A Rochester man has admitted beating a man to death a year ago on North Clinton Avenue.

20-year-old Treveon Gates is pleaded guilty to 1st-degree manslaughter and a drug charge.

Police say Gates beat 65-year-old Gerald Wayne Irvin in an unprovoked attack in April of last year.

Irvin was hospitalized for over a month before finally succumbing to his injuries.

U.S. Marshals say Gates had over a hundred baggies of fentanyl when he was arrested last October.

He'll be sentenced to 30 years in prison in July.
