Imprisoned Rochester Pizza Shop Owner Accused of Trying to Kill Inmate

A former Rochester pizza shop owner who was convicted of recruiting for Islamic State is now accused of trying to kill a fellow inmate at a federal prison in Kentucky.

39-year-old Mufid Elfgeeh is charged with attempted murder in an indictment filed last week.

Elfgeeh is a Yemen native who is a naturalized American citizen.

He's serving a 22-year sentence, after pleading guilty to federal charges in 2016.

Elfgeeh was one of the first men in the U.S. to be captured and convicted for charges related to ISIS recruitment.
