Report Ranks Rochester as one of Nation's Best Cities for Clean Air

The American Lung Association's annual State of the Air report ranks the Rochester area among the nation's cleanest cities.

To qualify, the Rochester-Batavia-Seneca Falls region had no high ozone or particle pollution days between 2019 and 2021 and was among 25 cities with the lowest year-round particle pollution levels.

The report found more than one in three Americans live in counties that had unhealthy levels of ozone or particle pollution -- even as overall, air quality improved across the nation. The most unhealthy cities are in California, Arizona, and Nevada.
