After weeks of negotiations, there's a tentative agreement on the bail reform issue that's been holding up the new state budget.
According to CityandStateNY.com, Governor Hochul and legislative leaders have nearly finalized a deal that will give give judges discretion to set bail in violent felony cases.
That would partially reverse the controversial requirement that judges apply the "least restrictive means" when determining whether to set bail.
The budget is nearly three weeks overdue, with the fight over bail reform one of the major stumbling blocks.
