An Ogden man has admitted killing his step-father and getting rid of the body in a fire pit.
Lance Mitchel was initially charged with second-degree murder but pleaded guilty today to manslaughter in the death of Bill Mason in May 2021.
In court, he admitted snapping Mason's neck when he wouldn't let him see his mother when she was taken off life support in the hospital.
Mitchel is expected to be sentenced to 15 years in prison.
His sister Dawn was charged with evidence tampering and concealing a corpse in connection with Mason's killing.
DNA from the remains in the fire pit were matched to Mason.
