Town of Pittsford Tells Drag Queen Story Organizers to Pay For Security

The Town of Pittsford is telling organizers of a planned drag queen story hour they'll have to cover the cost of extra security.

The event is planned for a week from Saturday at the town's community center.

The town is telling the nonprofit Pittsford CommUNITY organization to come up with $8,500.

Plans call for three people in drag to read stories to children. Some town residents have spoken up in opposition. The organization claims the bill for security is an attempt by the town to block the event.

The money is due Monday
