A New York City man has pleaded guilty to federal charges in Rochester for hacking the online accounts of more than 50 Wegmans customers.
Prosecutors say Maurice Sheftall used the customers' credit card information to buy groceries for himself and others.
The scheme spanned six months in 2021, and involved the theft of more than $9,000 in merchandise.
He has been sentenced to three years' probation and must pay more than $41,000 restitution to cover the thefts, and the related security costs.
