Two People Overcome by Smoke From a Fire on Monroe Avenue

Rochester firefighters say two people were overcome by smoke from a fire on Monroe Avenue, near Meigs.

The fire broke out around 11 last night in a four-story apartment building and went to two alarms.

The fire gutted an apartment on the third floor and damaged the hallways. It was brought under control in about 30 minutes.

The two injured people were treated at the scene, and the Red Cross is assisting one tenant with housing.
