UPDATE: Man Killed in Shootout with Officers Identified

UPDATE: We now know the name of the man who was shot and killed by officers during a foot chase yesterday in Rochester.

35-year Brendon Burns of Rochester was linked to two cases involving gunfire, one Friday night on Monroe Avenue and one yesterday morning near Elmwood Avenue in Brighton.

The investigation connected Burns to Milburn Street.

He got away during a vehicle pursuit there yesterday morning, but was spotted there again yesterday afternoon.

During the foot chase, the man allegedly aimed a shotgun at sheriff's deputies.

Police say he ignored repeated orders to drop it, and deputies and city police officers opened fire, killing him.

A man is dead after apparently getting into a gunfight with officers on Rochester's east side.

Police spokesperson Greg Bello says the probe into what happened is well underway.

It all happened on Milburn Street, near Francis Parker Elementary School Number 23 this afternoon.

Video of the suspect firing on an officer at point-blank rage has been circulating on social media.

The school was evacuatuated, and nearby streets are still shut down.
