Concert Cancelled as Main St. Armory as an Entertainment Venue Scrutinized

The owner of the Main Street Armory, Scott Donaldson, has told the city he has canceled a concert scheduled there this Saturday.

City officials plan to meet with Donaldson this week to discuss the future of the Armory as an entertainment venue.

Mayor Malik Evans said yesterday all local concert venues will face scrutiny.

City agencies are looking at code and capacity compliiance at the Armory.

Capacity is 5,000. The last fire safety inspection was in December.

Records show two code violations -- one for an unapproved wood splitting business on the property, and one for an unapproved dwelling unit. There was no evidence the dwelling unit had been occupied.
