PA Man Killed in Shootout With Canandaigua Police, Ontario County Deputies

A Pennsylvania man is dead, after a shootout with Canandaigua police and Ontario County deputies.

As Bob Lonsberry was the first to tell you, it happened overnight on South Main Street, after a traffic stop on a reckless driver.

Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione says officers tried to calm down 31-year-old Brandon Zurkan of Warren, Pennsylvania for over 8 minutes.

However, he says Zurkan left those officers no choice but to open fire, after Zurkan pointed his gun at them.

Zurkan later died at the hospital.

Cirencione says deputies chased Zurkan from East Bloomfield, but the chase came to an end after Zurkan crashed into a fence.

He also says another gun was found in Zurkin's vehicle, along with a full magazine and several pills.

No officers were hurt.
