Many State Employees Now Eligible for Parental Leave Assistance

Thousands of state employees are now eligible for parental leave assistance.

Governor Hochul launched the initiative to offer fully paid parental leave benefits to more than ten-thousand unrepresented State employees.

The majority of them will be able to take the leave starting today, and they are eligible to receive 12 weeks of fully paid leave to use for bonding with a newborn, fostered, or adopted child. She said those dedicated New Yorkers who keep the state moving shouldn't be forced to choose between a paycheck and caring for their child.
