The state is giving hospitals and health care facilities permission to end their mask requirements, starting Sunday.
Those facilities can still choose on their own to keep mask mandates in place.
Staff, patients and visitors have been required to wear masks, even if they are fully vaccinated.
New York kept the mask requirement in place even after the Centers for Disease Control loosened its guidelines in September.
