The Superintendents of the Victor and Fairport Central School Districts have jointly announced that a "racially-charged situation" took place at a Victor/Fairport boys basketball game on Wednesday evening.
A group of Victor High School students made racially offensive noises while a Black Fairport player was shooting foul shots.
Victor Superintendent Timothy Terranova and Fairport Superintendent Brett Provenzano say they reviewed video of the varsity game and spoke with witnesses, and it was clear the sounds came from Victor's student cheer section. They say it's also clear they were extremely hurtful to the player and his teammates.
Both superintendents say this goes against the core values of both school systems. They say there are no excuses for the behavior.
