UPDATE: Hancock St. Fire Victim Identified

UPDATE: The victim of Friday's fatal fire on Rochester's west side has been identified.

78-year-old Christine Cannon died in the apartment house fire on Hancock Street.

Firefighters were unable to reach Cannon on the 3rd floor, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

So far, authorities have been unable to identify any of her kin.

The Arson Task Force is still investigating the fire, and no charges have been filed yet.

Rochester police confirm a woman in her 70s was killed in a fire early this morning at a 9-family apartment building on Hancock Street.

The fire broke out around 4:20 this morning.

RPD Captain Frank Umbrino also confirms there was a domestic dispute call prior to the fire.

He says a firefighter was injured while trying to get to the woman on the third floor.

Two people were hospitalized with smoke inhalation.

No charges have been filed so far, but police are interviewing everyone in the building.

The Arson Task Force is investigating the fire.
