Irondequoit is getting a new police chief.
Scott Peters will succeed Alan Laird, who retired in November.
Peters spent nearly 27 years with the Rochester Police Department, the joined the District Attorney's Office as a major crimes investigator.
At last night's town board meeting, Irondequoit Town Attorney Megan Dorritie addressed allegations raised by civil rights lawyer Nate McMurray that Peters attended the infamous racist party last summer at a home on East Avenue.
And Dorritie said the town does not believe it is appropriate to perpetuate rumors of bad conduct without evidence to support those allegations.
Peters will begin work upon completion of a full background investigation.
