New Year Means New Laws in New York State

Dozens of new laws are taking effect across New York to start the New Year.

Nursing homes will be required to notify residents and families of confirmed infections and must have a plan to protect residents during an outbreak.

A new law makes it easier to seize guns from people who are the subject of a protective order resulting from domestic violence.

A new regulation will require telemarketers to disclose at the start of a call that the call recipient can be added to the do not call list.

And public colleges and universities will have to have Narcan in their dormitories to prevent opioid overdoses.
