The Monroe County Legislature has approved the county budget for the coming year.
Total spending is more than $1.3 billion, but County Executive Adam Bello says the spending increase is three percentage points below the inflation rate.
The tax rate is falling by 90 cents to $7.56 per $1,000. Bello says it's the lowest rate since 1947.
The budget includes an 8.6 percent increase for the sheriff's office.
Meantime, the legislature has approved using nearly $100 million in American Recue Plan funding for 40 health, public safety and economic development programs.
