Deadline To Have A Real ID For Domestic Flights Pushed Back

You are getting even more time to get a Real ID to board a domestic flight.

The spring deadline has been pushed back two more years to May 2025.

The Real ID law requires U.S. travelers flying within the country to either have a passport or security-enhanced driver's license. Once the law takes effect, a license without a Real ID seal won't allow you to get through airport security.

The law was passed because most of the 9-11 hijackers had fake licenses.

Enhanced driver's licenses issued in New York are Real ID compliant.
