King Tapped as SUNY Chancellor

There's a new head of SUNY.

Former U.S. Education Secretary John King will serve as SUNY's 15th chancellor.

He will replace interim chancellor Deborah Stanley, who took the job when Jim Malatras stepped down last December over allegations of staff mistreatment both at SUNY and while he served in the Cuomo Administration.

King served as President of non-profit The Education Trust, after leaving the Obama Adminstration in 2017.

He also was the first Black state education commissioner, holding that post from 2011 to 2015.
