There is an update on an ongoing effort to track the sources of illegal guns that are turning up in Rochester.
As first reported by News10NBC, researchers from the national Brady Center said in a Zoom meeting last night that about 90 percent of all the firearms recovered came from only about 5 percent of the firearm dealers. They say focusing on just a few dealers can have a big impact on gun violence.
The City and area police and anti-violence organizations asked the Brady Center a year ago to analyze the city's gun crime data.
A full report is expected early next year.
