Absentee Ballot Counting in New York Should be Faster This Year

New York State election officials say counting absentee ballots will happen more quickly this year.

Absentee ballots have already been mailed out, and voters can still apply for them until Monday.

Ballots that have been sent back are already being reviewed for proper validation.

For the first time in a major election, absentee ballots will be scanned an hour before the polling places close on Election Night -- and those ballots will be in the vote totals that evening.
