Lee Zeldin Campaign Under Investigation

The chief enforcement lawyer at the State Board of Elections reportedly has begin a preliminary investigation into a possible violation of the law by the Lee Zeldin campaign.

Sources tell the New York Times the investigation is looking at possible illegal coordination between the campaign and two major Political Action Committees supporting him.

The state Democratic Party lodged a formal complaint about people who may be working for both the campaign and the PACs.

The investigator is seeking subpoena authority from the Board of Elections but Republicans on the board were not present at a meeting this week. Without a quorum, the board could not vote on the subpoena power
