The chief enforcement lawyer at the State Board of Elections reportedly has begin a preliminary investigation into a possible violation of the law by the Lee Zeldin campaign.
Sources tell the New York Times the investigation is looking at possible illegal coordination between the campaign and two major Political Action Committees supporting him.
The state Democratic Party lodged a formal complaint about people who may be working for both the campaign and the PACs.
