Sports Card Fraudster Charged by Feds

Federal prosecutors have charged a Greece man with wire and mail fraud for advertising that he had collectible sports cards for sale...then stealing the money of people who tried to buy them.

They say 34-year-old Kyle Bertrand was out of prison on supervised release for a federal fraud and identity theft conviction when he started advertising desirable sports cards on internet sites....cards he didn't actually possess. Prosecutors say the ads looked legit and fooled a number of people who sent their money. They received empty boxes or cards of negligible value in return.

Bertrand defrauded at least six victims out of more than $33,000 until he was caught by the FBI.
