A federal appeals court has upheld the conviction and life sentence of Richard Wilbern, the man convicted in the 2003 deadly armed robbery at the former Xerox Federal Credit Union.
Wilbern was convicted in 2019 in the death of Raymond Batzel.
His appeal arguments involved DNA, and issues with his defense counsel, jurors, and witnesses, but the arguments were rejected.
In the heist, Wilbern told an employee he would be conducting a security assessment and staging a robbery. Batzel was killed, and another customer was wounded.
