NYSEG and RG&E Requesting Big Delivery Rate Hikes

Both NYSEG and RG&E are requesting big delivery rate hikes, and local lawmakers say people just can't afford them.

State Senator Samra Brouk says her office is flooded with calls from people who can't pay their utility bills as it is.

RG&E wants a 19 percent electric delivery rate increase and NYSEG wants an increase of 31 percent.

There will be a Public Service Commission public hearing this evening on utility rates. The hearing begins at 5pm, and can be watched online.

Public statements can be made electronically.
