Geneva police have identified the man they say mailed a grenade to the Geneva Public Safety Building.

57-year-old Melvin Lackey is charged with felony placing a false bomb.

Police say he sent a pair of packages to the building yesterday, and one of them contained what turned out to be an inert grenade.

The area around the building was cordoned off for several hours, and the Monroe County Bomb Squad was called to the scene.

Lackey is in Ontario County Jail pending arraignment.
