Plans for Unused Hand Sanitizer Sitting at Old Airport Runway Near Utica

There's an update on the story from earlier this year about the hand sanitizer -- paid for with state tax dollars -- that has been sitting unused on an old airport runway near Utica.

Albany's Channel 6 reports the state is paying Kodak to bring it to Rochester, and the company will extract the alcohol for use in manufacturing.

More than 700,000 gallons will be brought to Kodak over the next ten months.

The sanitizer is labeled "NYS Clean" and was bottled by prison inmates at the start of the pandemic in 2020. Kodak supplied the alcohol that was used to make the sanitizer.
