Gov. Hochul Ends Mask Mandate on Public Transit

Governor Kathy Hochul says the state's COVID-19 numbers are good enough to end the mask mandate in a number of public places, including mass transit.

Yellow signs will be placed at transit hubs notifying people that masks are now optional.

Masks will no longer be required in shelters or corrections facilities, but a mandate will remain in place for health care centers and hospitals.

Hochul also says new, Omicron-specific booster shots will be widely available statewide, starting this week.
