Court of Appeals Chief Judge Retiring

The state's top judge is reportedly retiring.

The New York Times reports Court of Appeals Chief Judge Janet DiFiore (dee-fee-OR-ay) will step aside at the end of next month.

She says there's no specific reason for her retirement, but she is looking to pursue other opportunities.

DiFiore was named to the court by then-Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2015.

The other 6 judges on the court will select an acting Chief Judge, until Governor Hochul nominates a successor that the State Senate then confirms.
