Rochester City Councilman Jose Peo is facing criticism for comments by a co-host on his podcast about possibly having sex with another councilmember. Peo's co-host -- Lavelle Lewis -- made the remarks about Mary Lupien in the podcast posted June 15.
“I guarantee you, if the ginger went out with me on a date, I guarantee you she’d let me beat it up that same day,” the co-host, Lavelle Lewis, said, referring to Lupien, who has red hair. Seconds later, Peo responds, "Mary, I'm out of this" and says "I had nothing to do with this." -- while his co-hosts laugh.
Lupien says the comments dishonor her personally and professionally.
Council President Miguel Meléndez reportedly has been in touch with Peo and Lupien, but isn't sure about what action to take yet.
