State Lifeguards Get a Pay Hike

The state is raising the pay for state lifeguards to address staffing shortages.

Governor Hochul says pay for lifeguards at state parks in our region will increase from 14-dollars-and-95-cents an hour to 20 dollars.

Lifeguards with more than two seasons of experience will also get an extra pay bump.

The state parks department provides lifeguards at swimming pools and beaches at 70 parks across the state.
